Teeth Whitening in North Vancouver, BC
If you are looking for a quick and easy way to improve your smile and boost your confidence, you should consider professional teeth whitening in North Vancouver at Peak Dental Arts!
How does our teeth whitening service work?
Teeth are made up of two layers—a hard outer layer called enamel and dentine, bony tissue found beneath the enamel. Over time, eating, drinking and smoking can cause a thin film to form over enamel resulting in stains. The porosity of enamel also allows some matter to seep into the second layer causing further discolouration.
Professional teeth whitening can remove surface stains as well as discolouration beneath the surface. The whitening agent removes deep stains by penetrating the pores of the enamel to target the discoloured molecules inside the teeth. The oxygen molecules in the whitening agent will then react with the stains to lift them.
At Peak Dental Arts we offer two types of whitening services, in-office and at home. With in-office whitening, we use ZOOM products to get you 1-2 shades brighter in a single, 2 hour appointment. At home, whitening involves creating custom trays that fit your specific teeth and then using our whitening products at your own discretion from home. If you already have sensitive teeth, we recommend starting with the at home treatment to gauge your comfort. Ask about combining these services for the best results!
Things to consider before you opt for professional teeth whitening
If you’re using dentist-approved methods, teeth whitening is safe for almost everyone. However, as with any procedure, you should discuss any existing medical condition with us before your whitening. Following the teeth whitening process, you may experience some sensitivity in your teeth and gums. This typically lasts between one or two days and everyone experiences it differently.
Although you can dramatically brighten your smile with our professional service, we cannot whiten your teeth beyond their natural colour. Teeth, much like our skin, can have a variable amount of pigment. If you had crowns or bonding placed before teeth whitening, you should consider that they may no longer match your teeth after whitening.
